Outboard Engines
Tohatsu, Japan’s oldest outboard manufacturer, has been producing high quality, durable outboards since 1956. They were originally developed for commercial Japanese fishermen needing a motor which would run for days on end. This ocean-tested engineering makes Tohatsu one of the toughest and most reliable engines available. Tohatsu’s 5 year warranty is one of the best standard warranties in the industry and covers the entire line of two-stroke and four-stroke outboard engines. If you’re looking for clean, quiet, reliable power, nothing performs like Mercury four-strokes. That’s because no other engines offer the same combination of smooth, smoke-free operation; proven technology and unparalleled corrosion resistance. And no engines offer the same heritage of tournament-winning power.
Four-Stroke EFI
By combining our four-stroke combustion process with the proven, powerful performance of Electronic Fuel Injection, we’re surpassing traditional horsepower limitations, to help you go further and faster than ever before. And like all of our four strokes, every EFI four-stroke offers the same smooth, smoke-free operation whether you’re trolling or at full-throttle. With almost 40% better fuel economy and 90% fewer emissions than comparable two-strokes, it’s no wonder Mercury four-strokes are the power of choice for serious boaters.
When it comes to mid-range four-stroke power our 40, 50 and 60 hp outboards are awesome.
Across the board, these four-strokes feature electronic fuel injection for exceptional fuel efficiency and smooth, quiet oeration. Our BigFoot models are equipped with a taller gearcase for added push while 33% larger components ensure maximum durability.
They’re SmatCraft ready and offer world-class technology including thermoplastic intake runners for reduced weight and better heat dispersion, and fuel injectors for every cylinder for excellent throttle response. of course all have our exclusive turn-key starting for fast, easy ignition. Whether you plan to load your boat with fish or friends, Mercury is your power.
Reliability
Designed for durability, strength and corrosion resistance, the driveshaft, shift shaft, prop shaft, water pump housings and power head fasteners are stanless steel.
BigFoot features larger components for extra strength. The gears for example, are 33% larger than those on competitive outboards (60 hp BigFoot).
Performance
Inherent 4-stroke characteristics include quiet, smooth operation and exceptional idling.
40% better fuel economy than comparable 2-stroke models.
Integral power trim adjusts boat’s attitude for improved for improved boat handling under a variety of speeds and water conditions.
BigFoot’s taller gear case means the prop sits lower in the water and its oversize anti-ventilation plate keeps air away from the prop for greater thrust and manouevrability (60 hp BigFoot).
Running Quality
EFI models offer turnkey starting and instantaneous throttle response in all types of atmospheric conditions.
Low-noise combustion process and sound-dampening cowls for extremely smooth quiet operation.
Technology
SmartCraft technology with the Engine Guardian System, monitors engine functions and alerts you to possible engine problems.
Less Worries, More Boating Time
The E-TEC is so sophisticated, yet so simple, it requires no scheduled dealer maintenance for 3 years or 300 hours., No trips to the dealer, no belts to adjust, not even an oil change. After you own an E-TEC, you’ll wonder how you ever put up with the hassles of owning anything else.
Less Maintenance
KISS YOUR MECHANIC GOODBYE (FIGURATIVELY SPEAKING)
Other engines need almost constant attention. Dealer service, oil changes, belt adjustments, winterising. It adds up, not only in time you spend hauling it back and forth to the dealer, but also in terms of cost.
E-TEC is different. It requires no scheduled dealer maintenance for 3 years or 300 hours. None. No oil changes. No belts to adjust (there are none). In fact, the E-TEC‘s entire head assembly consists of only two parts. Compare that to the lmost 200 parts you’ll find in a competing 4-stroke engine, and you start to get the idea.
To help stay maintenance-free, all Evinrude E-TEC outboard engines feature the S.A.F.E. (Speed Adjusting Failsafe Electronics) information and alarm system. It reduces engine RPM in case of emergency to prevent engine damage and protect your investment. And when it comes time to winterise, you can do it yourself.
The Evinrude E-TEC V6 150 weighs 39 kg less than a comparable 4-stroke. Even more amazing: The competitive 4-stroke 150 weighs nearly the same as the Evinrude E-TEC 250. Why are other engines so fat? Here’s an abbreviated list: belts, camshafts, valves, timing chains, oil pumps. These are all things you won’t find in an E-TEC, but other 4-stroke engines still have to lug around. We got rid of them. In return, you get better acceleration, more nimble boat handling, and absolutely amazing top speeds. Enjoy.

Inboard Engines
A Powerful Combination of Power and Performance
Our reputation for unsurpassed reliability, advanced technology and high performance stretches around the world. To see that in action, look no further than our petrol and diesel inboards. We offer a complete range of power for a broad variety of boat applications, from Horizon petrol inboards to innovative, power-packed Cummins MerCruiser Diesel models.
Inboards are designed for long life and a low-maintenance boating experience. That’s why we use quality materials like special EDP-coated cast iron and stainless steel in the exhaust systems, and feature closed-cooling, top-mounted starters and oil pans with better corrosion prevention, allowing us to confidently offer up to four years of warranty with our Horizon packages. For the ultimate in precise control, all Multiport Injection (MPI) inboard models offer optional Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS), with a host of user-friendly features like our exclusive Transmission Guardian to deliver reliability like no other inboard.
Volvo Penta IPS
One of the greatest innovations ever in boating with car-like handling and manoeuvring, joystick for easy docking plus dramatically increased efficiency compared to inboard shafts
How can that be? Through radical innovations and forward thinking.
The single biggest secret behind Volvo Penta IPS’s superior efficiency lies in the unique pods:
Forward-facing, twin counter-rotating propellers that work in undisturbed water.
A propeller thrust parallel with the boat’s hull.
Efficient flat surface hull.
The result is around 35% better efficiency at cruising than inboard shafts. Which leads to the same reduction in exhaust emissions and fuel consumption.
